01 What is E-Coating (Electrocoating) and how does it work?
E-Coating (CED coating) submerges the metal part in a water-based paint bath and applies DC electric current to deposit a uniform coating across the entire surface including inside cavities, holes, sharp edges, and weld seams. Voltage controls film thickness (typically 15-25 microns). After deposition, the part is rinsed and oven-cured at 160-180 degrees Celsius for maximum hardness and adhesion.
E-Coating offers 100 percent surface coverage including internal cavities impossible to spray-paint, extremely uniform film thickness (plus or minus 1-2 microns), superior corrosion resistance (500-1000+ hours salt spray), excellent paint adhesion, minimal VOC emissions and paint waste, and fully automated consistent batch processing. It is the OEM standard for automotive body corrosion protection.
E-Coating at Jai Ambay Etching Process in Delhi is suitable for steel, cast iron, aluminium, zinc die castings, and all electrically conductive metals. Common products include automotive body parts, seat frames, furniture frames, HVAC components, electrical enclosures, agricultural equipment, and hardware fasteners.
Yes. E-Coat primer plus powder coat topcoat is the automotive industry standard for maximum corrosion and UV protection. The E-Coat provides uniform base-layer protection including inside seams and cavities while the powder coat provides colour, UV resistance, and surface durability. This two-coat system achieves 1,500+ hours salt spray performance.
Standard cathodic E-Coating provides 500-1,000 hours salt spray resistance per ASTM B117. Premium formulations with zinc phosphate pre-treatment achieve 1,500-2,000+ hours. Salt spray test certificates are available on request from our Delhi facility.
